Mike Hermans, pseudonym Maaik (born Antwerp, 1971) is himself an architect. Raised in Antwerp, Maaik studied architecture at the University of Antwerp. To visualize his ideas, Maaik used his own figures to determine human proportions, which soon evolved into comic figures. A cartoonist was born. Some added dialogue was enough to create the humorous world of Archibald. Maaik devised Archibald from real life experiences. He is the refl ection of Maaik s own views on architecture. Maaik recognized a way to exercise the profession of architect as he always wanted: with a sense of humor. Archibald is the would-be architect in him and the only architect he ever wants to be ... Architecture is shaping the space within himself ... Mike Hermans, Pseudonym Maaik, Jg. 1971, ist selbst Architekt.
